Debating on getting geese

I am trying to convince my parents to get some geese. I don't know what breed would be best for my family. I know that it has to be hardy, do well with children and pets, and docile. I really want to get 3 or 4 geese! I looked at Pilgrims because they are auto-sex and that would be nice.

I suggest reading all of the stickies here in the goose area. Reading up on breeds, talking to people who actually own the breeds you are looking at, and then getting on a 2013 waiting list for the breed you want.

It doesn't have all the breeds, but if you want to do something pro-conservation, maybe look into Cotton Patch geese.
