Not to cause controversy, but did we ever decide if EEs were considered pure? I know they're not technically a breed, but if the rooster and hens carry the blue egg gene, you're obviously breeding for certain traits. Just wondering...

I think it was decided that they were considered a breed, but I would wait for Tiff to comment to be sure.

Is anyone with Peacocks participating?? I think they would be so fun to have!

EE's means Easter Eggers right? Are they Americaunas?

Easter Eggers are Ameraucana or Araucana mixes that lay blue/green eggs.

Why would they not consider them a pure breed??

Since they're Ameraucana and Araucana mixes, there is not a standard requirement (other than laying the blue/green eggs) and they are not recognized as a breed by the APA.

Ameracaunas that are not a recognized color are also called EE's. These would still be purebred, just not recognized. Like the marans, they are not a recognized breed, so would they be considered a mix? I wouldn't think so.

Ok, I see. It has been a couple of years since I had Ameracaunas.
