I'm pretty sure I'd have to pay for mine too. When I sold on ebay they gave me a bunch but I haven't gotten any in a long time and those were the wrong shape for egg shipping.
 
There are some boxes at the P.O. that are called 'ready post'. Those you do have to pay for, but the priority boxes should be free. They are on their website.

If you go to the Post Office website, I was able to order a box of 25 Priority boxes for free and they shipped them to me for free. I use a lot of boxes for the things I sell on ebay.

I haven't told my hubby yet! My mom said she wanted to try to hatch some eggs so I figure I can tell him when the brooder box needs to be set up so it will be to late to turn back then....after all my mom did!
