We're doing this one a little different!! Attempting a New Years Day Hatch Day.

We want everybody to feel that they can join and that the eggs will be sent. This is why a deadline is set.

IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU CAN GET YOUR EGGS OUT ON TIME, DO NOT SIGN UP!

Please make sure that you are ready for eggs when you join this swap. It is not possible to wait for your incubator to get empty.

There have been problems in the past with people not receiving, or not informing 'us' that they have received, their eggs.

Please people, make sure you post here when you receive your eggs!!

There were a few problems with previous swaps, but for the most part, everything has went well.

Disclaimer
This swap is not endorsed by BYC (owner, website, staff, etc.). The BYC Staff is not responsible and will not mediate if something goes "wrong" or a deal goes "bad". If you choose to participate in a swap, it is best to know who you are swapping with and not to swap more than you can afford to lose.
The BYC Staff is sensitive because some past swaps have not worked out. We want our members to feel comfortable having fun with these and other social interactions, but please keep in mind that there were issues with some organizers and swappers not following through on their commitments in the past.

I mentioned this in the Nov. thread, but I think the people signing up for this one should try to send eggs out on the 7th so the eggs can be set for a New Year's hatch. Shipping by the 5th would have the eggs arriving too early to hatch on New Year's. To hatch chicken eggs on New Year's they'd need to be set on the 10th or 11th. I guess it would depend on the species being hatched. Just a thought

****SHIPPING GUIDELINES****
Remember When Joining The December Swap (based On Chicken Eggs) That The Target Date For Arrival Is December 10th. This Will Allow For The Eggs To Set Overnight And Put Into The Incubator On December 11th. In Order For A 21 Day Incubation Period Eggs Have To Be Set On December 11th And Should Hatch On January 1st.

*****if You Are Sending Duck Eggs Or Some Other Egg With A Different Incubation Period - You Will Need To Adjust Your Shipping Date As Needed. if you would like to sign up with any type of egg other than chicken eggs - I will arrange dates to work for you.

*****If you are signing up with Duck eggs - your eggs need to be received by December 2nd so you will need to ship by November 29 - so please let me know asap.

Great minds think alike!! . . . . I was working on a seperate post to make sure everyone understood the shipping guidelines for this swap. They tend to get overlooked in the directions. I also fine tuned the directions with different dates so timelines would work out right.

Sounds good, maybe a timeline for shipping for the different species?

I rarely have anybody with a different species sign up but if I do I'll work it out. Most rare species are not laying at the moment! What are the options??? Duck or Coturnix Quail????? Anything else?

This time of year, yeah, pretty much ducks, coturnix, and button quail. I doubt that there are any other species laying, except for muscovy ducks. Remember those take 35 days if anyone signs up with them. Coturnix are supposedly 17 days, buttons should be 16. Most my ducks hatch in 26 days so Idk about those. They should take 28 but I guess they get impatient
