December Egg Swap ~ It's New Years Day - How's your Hatches Going?

Quote:
i started with a production strain yes, the hens that layed your eggs are from two hatches later , from different roos, and the roo that covered the hens , was shown in 4 h shows idk about apa but he was nice dark mohogany color with a nice tail set ... so your chicks will be better looking with the correct leg color , most of my hens were dark but not nearly as dark as the roo but had correct leg color ... so you should have some pretty egg layers on your hands there ,.. so im not saying they are show quality , but before long i will have show quality , since i will sell these birds once i locate at least a trio of nice birds , i passed some up at shawnee , because i wanted the orps and ameraucanas more

I don't mind production type but my husband is liking the standard Barred Rocks like Kathy's and he wanted Buckeyes but he likes those "Bob" style RIR's...I am going to have a yard full of Rocks because I like my Silver Penciled Rocks.....good thing he's a good builder we seem to need more coops.....who knew chickens would be this much fun

yeah i got a trio of the barred rocks from goodshepard lines ... wish they were layin already lol .... and im huntin for some good rir ,

im trying to focus on a ''few'' breeds

orpingtons - buff , black ( on the waiting list ) , white ( looking for will probally go with korfus lines sorry kristie i probally spelled your name wrong ) , blue ( on the waiting list ) , and lav ( growing out ) , and orp project colors

speckled sussex

coronation sussex ( currently have splits growing out )

rir ( looking for good birds )

Ameraucanas - white , blue , black , splash ( not recognized ) , after building up these flocks id like to get buff, lav , wheaten and blue wheaten , im not too keen on the silver but hey its only one more color variety lol

also have a leghorn project ive been working on and just growing the chicks out for , and the rir projects im growing chicks out for -- these were just for fun ( frizzled rir , and jubilee rir )

then of course i have to have my layer flock which will consist of my few production birds i have kept and my EE and of course the culls go in this pen as well
