DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Pics
Day 3 (4 if you count the first 24 hours) and I just candled my button quail, 17 out of the 22 i put in are developing. 4 were clear and one had just quit. Its such a pitty these tiny eggs break so easily, I had 31 but the others had cracks so didnt incubate. Wont bother candling the Marans until day 7, if i can manage to wait lol
Some of the Dark eggs I have incubated I have not been able to see anything except the ones getting darker with growing chicks and the ones on day 10 to 14 that were still clear... good luck

Well I have eggs in the incubator but I joined the November hatch group. I just got them in so if all goes well I suppose the 4th is their hatch date does that mean I fall under December or November hatch group?
There is some overlap with dates! You can join whichever one you like or even both🥰

I hatched Marans this past Spring and found that you can actually put a light source on both ends of the egg and this really helps see anything. Does require an extra pair of hands and of course being super careful not to drop the egg! I used an iPhone flashlight on one end and a Magicfly candler on the other. I was able to see development, if I recall, at 4 or 5 days! Some people also just use the weighing method with dark eggs instead of candling them, expecting 13% to 14% weight loss over the incubation period. 😊

It’s very rare that I’ve gotten a good hatch rate. But I really hope I do. :fl I usually end up assisting but I hope I won’t have to this time.
Crossing my fingers with you for a great hatch! 🤞 I had to assist four out of seven Marans, apparently they can have trouble too getting things going with those thick shells! 😊
