more quail due this next weekend... then one whole weekend with NOTHING hatching (what will I do??) then more quail the following week and maybe some marans chicks the next weekend after that?? mmmm

I am going to try to start hatching in February. I have some mailed in chicks from Texas that are in the brooder right now. They’re going on 3 weeks. I want them to be at least 8 weeks when I let them go to the big run.

Finally.. I can participate in these! I have a dozen Coturnix eggs in the incubator at the moment! day 5. Not bought, my quails pooped 'em out! super egg-cited. Hoping they are fertile!

Broody girl just got 6 eggs. 16 eggs into the incubator. I think I have another broody, I'll Mark what she's on now and see if she sticks if not into another incubator they go lol

I am so excited! This never gets old!
If you can’t see the PIP it’s right next to the number three on the egg.

Have 10 in the incubator now, had 12 but 2 weren't fertile. The hens are hatchery breeds, all the same roo, of unknown heritage. This will, hopefully, be the start of my barnyard breed via selective culling in future years.
