Good luck! I hope you have an incubator full of fuzzy butts very soon!

...Getting ready for lockdown... 12 going in...I am hoping they are ok. I was noticing today that their air cells look larger than I was hoping...although, weight wise they are good.

Debating the carton vs non-carton for hatching. They were shipped but all have intact air cells etc...

I am waiting on my incubator I ordered a Rcom suro can't wait. I will start using it as soon as I get it, My Rhode Islands Reds are laying like crazy. I will start with them hopefully this month.

Day 14 so I get to candle my eggs tonight! I can't wait to see them. 1 more week till we have some fuzzy butts. I'm dying to know what we have in there and how many we will actually get to hatch.

Still haven't decided if I'll hatch in the egg carton or not, what are you all planning to do?

Also I've seen something that shows eggs that are rather pointed could be cockerels and ones that are more rounded would be pullets... anyone know if there's any truth to that. I am thinking about noting which of my eggs may be pullets or Cockerels according to this and see if it turns out correct after I figure out who is what. Only problem is I may not be able to determine which ones hatched out of which egg unless I watch the whole hatching process.

Good luck to those who are in lockdown or going into it! Can't wait for pictures.

Deb how are yous doing? Any pips or fluffy butts. I'm hoping no news is good news and you are just busy with your eyes glued to the incubator.

I hatched in the egg carton cut down. Seemed to work out better than having them lay on their sides. I will continue doing it that way so would recommend.

My sizzles I picked up in the snowstorm took three days to hatch. These are porcelain sizzles and mixed sizzles. I removed these seven chicks before the last five pipped. Those five are the ones that hatched today and are still in the hatcher.

I am pleased with the results since my hatcher wouldn't keep temperature during lockdown. Kept going down to 93-94 degrees for most of the day and 99 during the evening. So here are my fluffy sizzles!

My next hatch goes into lockdown on 12/10. Shipped sizzle and silkie eggs from a forum member! Hope to hear good news from fellow posters on this thread that received eggs from the same person!

I candled my eggs and mine have the large air cells too! Maybe it is genetic?
