I was starting to feel guilty for doing all this research and getting so much from this site that I felt I owed you all my membership at least. We have learned much and enjoyed this site for several years. Look forward to contributing and learning more!!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We hatched our first chicks in Georgia back in 2000. We had them for about 3 years and then had predator issues as well as a move out of the country so we had to let all the animals go. Now I am retired and we are not moving anymore. I built a coop... then a bigger coop, then a roof for the coop, well you know how it goes... and keeps going.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 3 of 4 hens (1 died a few weeks back),1 Bared Rock Roo, and 15 chicks that are just over two weeks that we incubated.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We started with 2 RIR and 2 Bared Rock chicks last April and picked up the Roo in October from a local flock.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
From the source of all knowledge in the universe of course, Google.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
My wife is a musician and quilter, I am a blacksmith. We are retired and doing these hobbies as a way to make money and enjoy life.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a retired Master Sergeant with 31 years in the Army and Evelyn (my wife) is a retired customer service rep. We have 5 acres in East Texas with two dogs and very few neighbors.
