Declawed cat

my declawed cat catches birds right out of the air, mice, moles etc...but none of my cats messes with the chickens. they hang out together and are very peaceful. sometimes i have a cat and a chicken in my lap at the same time...talk about hilarious. sometimes my calico snuggles with the meaties, they are toasty! (or is that tasty?!?!?

) honestly, they like each other but....

it will depend on your animals. animals are all different, just like us people!

Birds drive our cats CRA - ZEE! We did the introductions (CLOSELY SUPERVISED) very early on - as you can see.

When we let the cat out in the yard with the chickens- who are now 17 weeks old- they run straight for her and try to peck her in the butt.

She hides from them under my legs.

Our cat, Weasel, is 22 pounds and regularly kills my full-grown yard-rats (squirrels) and bunnies- brings them home beheaded as offerings of *love* and makes me cry, the booger.

Our birds are free all day in the back-yard and Weasel won't even go back there unless someone is there to 'protect' him, even though the girls are only 12 weeks old and he's the size of a Cocker Spaniel!!

Our Chocolate Lab is also clueless and just hangs out waiting for us to toss grapes to him when we treat the girls, but can't be bothered to pay attention to them otherwise.

It all depends on how the animals see the birds, and what they are relying on for food, because the one that really scares me is this stray tom who has hardly any health in him at all, with horribly protruding ribs. We feed him, trying to keep him alive, as he was probably abandoned by college students, as happens all the time here. We hope to befriend him enough to get him to the no-kill shelter in town. He is starving and thus I feel he's the real threat, of all the cats in the neighborhood, and being in suburbia, that's a lot of cats!
