decrease brooder heat faster on meat birds?

Just wondering about this, it seems every time I go out there to check on them I am having to raise the lamp. Is that normal since they gain so much weight so fast? They aren't too feathered yet, but they just seem constantly hot. I now have the lamp higher than that on my 5 week old layers and the broilers are 2 weeks.

Yup, that's exactly what you should be doing. By three weeks, you should be able to put them outside too, as long as it isn't super cold at night where you live.
