Hello
I'm so happy to hear that your hen healed from this trauma! I hope our hen makes it. They must suffer when this is happening.
I rinsed our hen and sprayed the only bottle of wound/saline spray to remove the maggots. Fly strike. that's it. Our hen had a dirty bottom area from diarreah from we think worms. She is on her 2nd dose of panacur for the worms. Her tail feathers have been down.
I discovered maggots today ....crawling all over.
washed as any as I could off but some seemed to be embedded in her skin...she didn't have an open wound but because I couldn't get them out, she may have an open wound tomorrow ..they don't stop moving. I didn't want to pinch her skin.
I'm not sure what else I can do tonight.
Did this happen to you?
I will get epsom salt tomorrow
strike worm
Is there anything to give them for pain/comfort?
Our hen stays so quiet ...I wonder if she is in pain.
I need to cut her feathers away.
I need to see if she can handle antibiotic and dewormer med.
I'm so grateful for finding your post. Maybe theres' hope for Lorraine, our hen. Maggots can really go away that fast?
