Anyone use their turkey fryers for chicken??

Any suggestions??

I just got complaints from neighbors about my crowing roos that
are 10-12 weeks old so it's gonna be culling time soon.

Does it matter how long a 12 week old ages?

Can I just process and drop in the fryer?

Shoot yeah! just rub em down with seasoning, plop em in and there done (depending on size) in like 5 minutes!

No ideas on how long to age them..... anyone else?

I saw someone do small chickens/rock cornish hens in an electric fryer like you use for french fries. They turned out really good and you don't need to use alot of oil.

OMGosh, are you kidding, that is the best. You could inject just like a deep fried turkey. It is so juicy and tasty, you just made me hungry.

My butcher says the same thing about letting fresh chickens rest 24 hours before cooking. He says people freak out about chicken and all the contamination issues and don't give fresh chickens time for the muscles to relax. Heck, beef hangs for weeks before eating. That's what makes them tender. Happy frying.

Brine them overnight in the fridge.

Thanks everyone. Great suggestions. I'm hungry now too.

We don't have any silkie roos to eat and silkie hens are just too small. "Kill", our
Buff Silkie, may be a roo but is still way to small. Cmon up for some fried Leghorns.
