Deep litter and mud

I'm finding from my own experience with deep litter and from what I've seen on this site that the trick to getting the most out of DLM is consistently adding material to keep a state of layers from fresh on top and many layers of composition throughout. I had a 2 day period this spring where we received 9 inches of rain ! But even with that crazy ridiculous amount of rain my run drained quickly and the top layer dried very fast ! Putting aside some freak event like I described with normal amounts of rain on well layered DL that has built up above grade you should be able to avoid a sticky mud situation .

BTY Kathy your DL looks great , I would just suggest building it up
