Deep litter method or Deep compost system, what's the difference?

I don't have a problem if "the chicken community" would adopt those definitions, but the problem, of course, is that other people refer to (Dry) Deep Litter and (Wet) Deep Litter Composting, and Deep Bedding might either wet or dry.
<sings>wouldn't it be nice if...
Yes, it would be nice, but alas, here, and in life, terms and colloquialisms get tossed around, misinterpreted, definitions twisted....and it's just hard to name certain techniques with so many variables as the management of chicken bedding.
..and then those misinterpretations are 'spread', become gospel when it's not really understood. Believe me, many such horses are beaten beyond death.

'Dry vs Wet' might be good terms to add to 'litter', but doesn't encompass it all and could also be misinterpreted.

I saved that link to TAL's post because it describes the differences in a succinct and brief manner without talking it to death...TalksALittle is an apropos screen name..haha...wish they were still around, gave great advice. We tried to make 'Deep Litter' and 'Deep Bedding' the go-to terms, but it didn't take.

It was worth the effort as years later those of us new to raising chickens are still asking the same questions and trying to understand this stuff.
It never really caught on.....but saving the link to that post was worth the little effort it took. I've pasted it dozens of times.

She was recently given the BYC Educator designation.

This is my first year with laying hens, so I am just a mere student in that regard. Maybe the BYC Educators could get together and discuss things like standardizing terminology, providing a wikidictionary-type chicken dictionary on BYC site for those of us new to the experience. Over time, maybe terms would be agreed upon and used in the same way. Although I think using the correct term is important, if we try to improve systems or methods, it would be nice to know that we are talking about the same thing.

I am a, Staff Member and Trusted Authority on a large, popular Smoking Meat website. We have a Glossary/List of Acronyms for common used Terms. In general, to get Consistent Use of a term...Example, people would post pictures of a Cook they were proud of with the title Food PORN! This would cause the sight to get hammered with Porn Spam of a not so Family Friendly Nature!...The Owner and Staff agreed the only term used to reference pictures of a Cook would be " Qview ".
The respected Veteran members got on board, and the Staff Moderators would Edit the title if someone forgot the new policy. The BIGGEST INFLUENCE in making the permanent adoption of Qview...Just being Consistent and Being NICE, when correcting a members usage or telling them why their post was Edited. It did not take long for junior members to see the most respected among us use the desired term and now we have no issues...
Deep Litter vs. Deep Bedding can be the common understanding here with just a little time...JJ

I don't think I would mind a post of mine being edited to make it more clear. In fact, I would appreciate it and thank the moderators. I am in favor of some of the BYC educators agreeing on such terms and helping us out. If they did come up with a committee, I would think community input would also be helpful and acceptance of standardized terms might be more acceptable to all.

It’s a nice idea, but the moderators and educators already volunteer a lot of time (answering the same questions, over and over, including mine)! And this effort would only influence this community, not anyone who isn’t reading here regularly. Perhaps we can all take responsibility to clarify these terms when we encounter confusion.

Yes, that's the problem. I have no less than 3 books on raising chickens, and none of them agree on this issue either. Of all the internet articles I have read, there is no agreement as to the meaning of Deep Bedding, Deep Litter, Deep Litter Composting, etc...
