Deep litter method

I just raked my yard and i have alot of leaves in trash bags. Ive heard that you can use leaves for the deep litter method? Can anyone tell me all that they know about it?

Personally, I use the deep litter method although I don't use leaves. I start with 3 inches of shavings. When those get old or smelly I add a layer of new ones and mix it all together. I keep repeating this until springtime. I clean out my coop in spring, and in fall.

I use leafs ...all I can get my hands on . The more you add the better it gets ! Grass clippings , wood chips , sawdust , garden scraps all works
