It doesn't mean it is a bad site but it is not a secure one.
I think I got sidetracked.. apologies to the op!point is... ASSUMING the OP's hen has in fact a deep wound BELOW the vent, tben a good bit of the repair for the above crop surgury should be applicable to the wound.
BUT nothing has been said about how the wound in question came to be OR about how tbe hen has been pooping or laying.
Inquiring minds need to know!

The first thread was Sunday? If she was my hen I would likely dispatch her if that is intestine that's exposed. If it has not been kept moist, that tissue is not likely going to function properly and I'd expect it to turn necrotic if it hasn't already.@Toltecmaster
