I took a deer during the deer hunting season here and I processed it at home leaving me left with the carcass. I just drug it back into the woods thinking that the varmits would just take care of it. I did not think that I would walk back there and find my chickens pecking away at it. They have been doing a good job cleaning it up. I started thinking it is probably pretty good protein for them to eat, and good fuel for them since the weather is cold now.

I always put the carcass of my deer in the run in wintertime for the chickens to pick clean.

Wow! My family finds it weird that I feed my chickens scrambled eggs. They are going to find it weirder when I tell them that chickens eat deer!

I giove mine meat and fat scraps I get from the meat shop every day. They LOVE it.

I am hesitant to say, but my chickens act as garbage disposals for most of my kitchen scraps and old left overs. We just tossed them out thanksgiving turkey carcasses. but they are healthy and happy so I keep feeding them.
