Deer fawns for sale?

This has been hashed and rehashed over and over again.

Deer are wild animals, and yes, while they can be tamed, they can be trouble when they get older. They are best left in the wild.

but to answer your questions yes it is legal to sell them, with a permit,in some states,,is is a good idea,no..they do not make good pets.

My dh said they had a deer farm by his parents house a long time ago. They used them for meat and the city people that wanted the "hunting experience" but didn't have the skill to actually kill something wild, but I don't think they were like the native deer we have here.

This is a big sore spot with DH. He is a hunter & HATES deer farms.

They are mostly for rich people who want to say they killed a deer, but are too stupid to be able to get on the sporting way.

I am also against deer farms, and fenced hunts. It's been reveled that often the deer are drugged so they are not able to flee, so that the 'big spender' will have a better "hunt".

For crying out loud, if that's the only way you can outsmart a deer & put food on the table, you SHOULD starve to death.

I agree ... deer should not be hynted that way... My family doesn't hunt anyway... but at least in the wild they have a chance...not that I have anything against people hunting fo food-its the ones that only hunt for trophys

I wouldn't support these people by buying up these animals. You can legally own them with a permit but who wants to raise animals that are intended to be wild and free.....not me.

There are several whitetail deer farmers/breeders here. You have to be licensed with the USDA to have them. It used to be managed by the PA Game Commission but my understanding is the USDA regulates it now.
