i spent 7 hours yesterday enclosing a 50x50 area adjacent to my coop and run in 7.5’ tall deer fencing

about 6pm i went out to the coop to grab some tools i had left out there and off to my left in the pitch black i hear loud footsteps, getting closer until “CRASH!!” and then they ran away

so after a full day of work, my enclosure lasted a whole 60 minutes and now needs repairs. unfortunately i won’t be able to get in there to fix it until the door from my current run is framed out, since i eventually boxed myself out.

it’s still serviceable as is, but i don’t like that the fence post is bent in the ground sleeve. when i get around to fixing it, i’ll be securing a lot of the posts to trees for added strength

Is that metal hex fence(what most would call chicken wire)...
...they call it deer fence in your neck of the woods?
yeah, sold by a site called deer busters. deer are a bigger pest here than anything else. they sell it up to 10’ tall to keep deer out of people’s gardens

Deer have incredibly poor eyesight. They actually struggle a lot to see anything directly in front of them. It will take them a while to realize the fence is there.

You may want to put up a brightly colored tarp or something to catch their attention. 😅
