Deer ticks on chicks?

Yesterday we found a small deer tick just above one of our 4 week old Red Star/RIR chick's eye. We took it off with tweezers successfully.

Today we found 2 small deer ticks on another chick; our 4 week old Buff Orp/Splash Cochin chick, one right above her eye and one under her eye.

We checked them all over for any more and didn't find any, luckily.

Can chicks get lyme disease? Can it be life-threatening or make them sick?

They free range with their mother hen all the time, and I know that the ticks get on their face so they can't be pecked off.
Any thoughts?

Okay I am not very helpful but I did google chickens and lyme disease and found pretty much nothing. I found one place that was encuraging people to get chickens and Guinea fowl to eat ticks. Sorry. Hopefully someone will be more helpful.
