defective egg gland?

Tried that! :( Only problem is that the wire cage in in the coop where it is at least 120 degrees during the day! I am gonna try finding a place in the shade to hang it and then try again. So hot here that might not even work! But at least she is eating and drinking 2x a day when I kick her out! Hopin' for a cool snap! :)

Ah.... broody hens. She's been my first and only one (so far) We tried everything. (Except the dunking in cold water) I did ask my adult son to take her in the pool with him and dunk her bottom and the only thing he said was "Mom, are you kidding me?" So, no dunking. We bought eggs, like I said, but she pecked them all. I was going to sacrifice a live baby that I had just hatched but was afraid it truly would have been a sacrifice. For the last month I have been just picking her up and taking her out with her sisters to the garden to dust herself or taken her to the front yard. She started staying out longer and longer and about a week ago she roosted with her sisters and they were NOT happy. They cackled for an hour until she went back to the nest. The next night she was roosting. I also thought she would cook on the nest. For a while she looked like she was having the jerks. Her body would just twitch. Not sure why. She's ok now. Broody hens. Who knew? I hope next year she'll set without pecking the eggs. Keep us posted.
