I recently adopted a hen that was "about to lay soon" and was told it was a Welsummer. The first thing I noticed when I got her was that she had NO waddles, and was much smaller than my other standard chickens. At first I wrote it off as her being very young, but the more I looked at her, the more I knew she wasn't a welsummer. The person that gave her to me PROMISED she really was.
A day or two after I brought her home, I discovered there was no doubt that she was another breed - she started laying WHITE eggs! Knowing Welsummers will lay dark brown/burgundy eggs, and have more depth to their body at that age, I was pretty disappointed. But I can't seem to figure out what breed she actually is. Obviously, she's VERY slender for being old enough to lay.
Any thoughts?
