So were on our 3rd hatch, we just got three about two days ago. They are about two days old and one little guy wont stand up. He is deformed, wont walk, he looks like his foot is stuck together. He scoots around but Im not sure how long hes going to last. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? What should I do? What are the odds that he will live? Get better? Die? I don't want him to survive and live like that, its cruel.

yah sounds like he was either hatched deformed or has a curled foot which is fixable. Can you post a pic by any chance? I'd like to see what you're dealing with because you might be able to help (or not - just depending on what the issue is)

ok, thanks for the pics. I dont think you will be able to fix it, it looks like it's leg is actually twisted, I thought maybe it just had a curled foot. If he can't get around at all it may die, not sure if youre comfortable culling it or not. I hatch a lot and have had to cull one that came out pretty deformed.

Is its leg twisted? Bc to me it just looks like the toes are a little messed up. I'd make some band aid/tape booties and straighten the toes out.

If the chicks are just 2 days old, they're most likely still pretty unsteady. Which could explain the scooting. I just had a Silkie chick hatch a few days ago. Its legs were sort of stuck out in front of it (weird). I gave it a couple of days to get its legs working and now you'd never know anything was wrong. Good luck!

We decided to put it down. I was hoping he would be okay, but things like this just happen. As you can see there is a huge lump where his leg and body meet as well. I found a way to do it without hurting him. Thank you.
