Ok sad question. I've had eggs swallow chicks and suffocate them with goop when they make first opening. Another issue is the ones come out week and deformed have just died. They wont eat and I help em drink till dead. What can I do. I been told I could put them down so they dont suffer. I've put down 12 now and unless I know it is right thing to do I'm very sad. Plz help I cried

I’m so sorry this has happened to you. From what you say, my first thought I’d that the humidity during your hatching period was too low. Sometimes it’s almost impossible to keep it high enough, so don’t blame yourself. I know of folks who put their incubators in a small room or closet with a humidifier when it’s time for the eggs to hatch. The membranes dry out and “shrink wrap“ the baby chicks.

I haven’t had this happen, but I’ve read the struggles of folks who have dealt with it. They just do their best to moisten the membrane and gently pick it away. Honestly it usually doesn’t work (in my reading) but I would imagine one feels compelled to at least try. I think I would.

Baby chicks’ legs are delicate and easily damaged. There are a ton of descriptions on here for treating “spraddle” or “splayed” legs. There’s a search button top right on your screen. If you search those terms you’ll find better tutorials than I could write for you. I’ve done them on several occasions but to be honest it’s never worked for me.

Ok sad question. I've had eggs swallow chicks and suffocate them with goop when they make first opening.I'm guessing you mean a hatched egg shell slips over an unhatched egg preventing the chick from hatching. This can happen when incubating eggs of different sizes. Try grouping eggs according to size in your incubator. Another issue is the ones come out week and deformed have just died. Be sure that eggs are being turned at least three times a day. If the incubator tray is slippery this can cause leg deformaties in newly hatched chicks because it does not have the traction a chick needs to control its legs. Something nonslip will help prevent this at hatching time. They wont eat and I help em drink till dead. Consider a different source for the eggs you incubate. What can I do. I been told I could put them down so they dont suffer. I've put down 12 now Over how long a period of time? and unless I know it is right thing to do I'm very sad. Plz help I cried Sounds sad.

Check the temperature and humidity controls to be sure they're accurate. Having to put down so many, if a short time, is not the usual.

If everything checks out OK with your incubator and you're using your own eggs to hatch, consider getting a new rooster.

I did find a thing about putting a rubber band and a straw to help spraddle legs. The concern is they have just died. Thinks was 3 now and this guy I showed a pic. Nobody told me can suffocate the feet b4 and when his feet suffocated for 2hr time I came back I saw his feet turning purple. I'm frustrated with how little help I get here and the responsibility I have. I live with severe PTSD and my income is low bc of the struggle. This is the best opportunity ive had, but get treated like I'm stupid by people bc I dont like people and its all yeah. So I mean my landlord doesnt spend time with me or train me. Showed me around and there ya go dude. It seems to me like I'm the gnome and that's making me more upset. There os a lot of good and I'm trying g to focus in it, but I barely know what I'm doing. The mistakes I make are sad and frustrating. I'm sick as all hell bc I found mouse poop in my dining area I didnt notice and bet I digested some so right now things are tough. I didnt know if I passed a cold to chickens or anything. Sry ranting but this world is hard and I kinda feel bad for these chicks bc I dont know what I'm doing. I cant get him to make a list or even chat. For 2 weeks I been complaining about the issues and prolly total 20mins of time bc I wont shut up. His response every time is I'm not turning the eggs. I know I am so very frustrated and I can't just keep walking everytime i feel situation is bs. I think humidity is too high u tell me too low and I'm just grrrrrr

This wasn't the case b4 the storm. And no thats not the egg issue. The chick opens the 1st crack and a goop bubble forms or suffocate the chick.

Angry and upset-I've been there and done that many times. Feel free to e-mail me later if you need help. From your second description it does sound like the humidity was too high. Low humidity would not produce goop bubbles; high humidity would.

So sorry about your hatching problems. That is one reason why I stopped hatching my own eggs. Incubator quality, humidity, temperatures and all the other things you have to do are important, and even at that, you can still end up with weak or samaged chicks. After having to put down a couple of brain damaged chicks who could not remain upright, and having to rehome a lot of extra cockerels, I will just buy chicks from a hatchery now.

Sorry that you haven’t received a lot of advice that has helped. It is possible that many didn’t understand There are some good threads that you can read through for more info. I will try to post a couple of links to some.

Ive been getting a lot of mess in the forum bc 3 threads and I'm very frustated with one says this and another says that. I dont care they get eaten or whatever bc my job is to give them a good life for what they have. Mixed info and several repeats got me buggered. I'm so grateful people are trying and want to help. Its me and forum and miss info and such. I got humidity down to 40% in incubator and still wait on hatcher reading. I have to open hatcher to read it though. It has a heater that heats water so I cant do anything but open vent. He said I can save these 2 chicks if they live and are happy I'll be awesome. I dont email and hate typing, but I need help with the lives u care for. I want them to be happy and healthy. People keep saying its line bred but I have 25 good going chick at 2 months old. I keep repeating myself bc 3 threads and right now I love the help but have chores to get done and sick ass hell.

We had a storm for over a week and lost power and all the yeahs could happen sotosay. They jumped in saying breed bad and its a very expensive breed I guess and a good flock not inbred. Had to ask bc of the comments. I figured was good line bc my landord is very into high class things. I appreciate the freedom he gives me and it comes with very little time from him. Thats why I'm here in a way bc a divorce took his time and such on the farm. I dont want to lose what I can develop into a great situation bc I deal with frustrated poorly etc. Here is a pic of the 3 eggs we get daily. Le Fléché, wyonndette, bardrock,
