Common sense tells me to cull her, but I just don't know for sure. She is deformed in her right wing, as it stretches outward like a human arm, rather than folding inward like a chicken wing. She's gorgeous in coloring, just like her sibling that hatched earlier today, and she has quite the vault and crest going on already.

It's unfortunate. She's walking around inside the 'bator just fine, but common sense still tells me she really should be in chicky heaven with a deformity that extreme.

Your input?

If otherwise she is healthy I would just keep her as " pet quality". But if she struggles to get around I would cull her as chickens are brutal if someone is weak.

It may be possible to "train" the wing to go back where it should be, like with straddle leg? Depending on how bad it is, of course. Could you post a pic of it so we can see? I'm sorry your little one is handicapped

. How many of the them hatched in total?

I wish I could post a picture but I broke our camera a while back (chick accident actually, lol) and I won't be getting another one until Christmas as a gift.

The wing isn't deformed in such a way that would allow for me to train it...it's actually misjointed and is literally set backwards. Also, I discovered about an hour ago that her leg on the same side (on the right) is also deformed and she is carrying the foot portion inward and up near her head while the joints are placed kitty-whompus.

I really think culling is necessary, but I'm willing to let her be for a while and see how she does.
