I wrote about the Delaware Blue Hens a few years ago. Some people made inquiries to breeders like McMurry's. In the last two issues of the catalog they show a chicken they call a Delaware Blue. I called them and told them crossing the two breeds they named does not a Blue hen make. You can only get a true Blue from a few backyard breeders.I would like to know if there is enough interest in the birds for me to breed mine. If I did, I would only breed with advance orders, no advance payments. I just don't want to get over run with chicks. I will try to post pictures here if it doesn't work anyone interested in seeing what they look like can e-mail me.

Hi Everyone Angel here. As you can see from my prior post that I am reply to, I live in Delaware. We are trying to sell our home to move to West Virginia, were my heart lies. Glad pictures posted. As you can see the birds are, to me amazing. I live in town and in this town they will only let me have chickens if they are blue hens. I can't wait to move so I can have all the breeds I so love.

Welcome to BYC!

I do not know anything about this bird, but it sure is pretty!

Here is a link to a page of members showing and talking about these birds that might help you with your decision...

Good luck with your adventures and it is great to have aboard BYC!

Beautiful birds. You may also want to post on your state thread - so local people can get them hopefully without the need to ship. Once you have 20 posts you can participate in the BYC buy-sell-trade forum.

You could also start a new thread in the Chicken breeds forum -and find out if there is a market for them.

Only a small segment of the membership visit the New Member introduction thread - so your exposure is greatly limited.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Very pretty birds! X2 You might want to post or make a thread for them in the Breeds forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/14/breeds-genetics-showing If you do a search , there are several old threads on them with people asking where they could find them, but nothing very current https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/260603/new-pics-of-my-delaware-blue-hen-roosters maybe pm members who were interested? When you have 20 posts you could also post Ads in the BYC Buy-Sell-Trade forum about them.

I would be very interested in true blue in chicks , if u know of an other places I may get them I would appreciate the info thanks

Welcome Angle Rae,

Nice looking birds. I do think if you breed them there will be an interest. I don't have any chickens yet but hope to get some this year. Can you post the article you wrote so folks can learn more about them? Everyone likes good pictures and from the looks of yours they may sell themselves. Have a nice day and good luck on your move to West Virginia.

v/r

Mike

Yes! You should! I live in Delaware (Sussex county) I want my state chicken I feel like they are extinct! I have seen white ones but I want ones that are all blue.
