This. I tried to find a picture of my female Delaware to share, but of course you cannot see the tail in the picture I already have on BYC.

I am not meant to have a Delaware Hen. Had 2 die as chicks. Had a 5 month old get caught by an owl. And now this one is a dang rooster. Which I can't have in my back yard.

I eventually got rid of mine. They were bossy and pushy.

Yeah, not my pic, random online chicken... my Delaware is the one in this picture, forever broody and trying to hide in the favorite nest box and shaped like a bowling ball...

None of mine went broody in the year I had them. I think it depends on the line.

I certainly don't know if it's typical of the breed, she is my only Delaware, but between bouts of broodiness and molting I think she only laid for like 3 months out of the last year

Of course, I do have a leghorn that went broody in her second summer. She raised 5 chicks and mothered them for almost 4 months.
