LOL! Yeah, they can be almost too friendly. I trip over mine all the time because they're so underfoot. And I get swarmed when I go out back!

Yes, we'd love to see your Delawares, too! Janet, as I was telling my DH what I was thinking about doing, putting others in with the Del boy and his two ladies, he said "Why not put the Welsummers in with them?". Brilliant idea! I doubt I'd mix those eggs up, right? My two Welsummer ladies are already 16 weeks old, but by the time the Delawares are close to laying age, they will be as large or larger than the Welsummer girls, I bet. That would give him four ladies for the time being. What do you think?

Yes, that could work out well. NO way you'd mix up those eggs.

Y'know, pics of my Dels are forthcoming. As soon as Project Delaware becomes "declassified."

Nice looking fellas you've got there. Can't wait to see what they feather out like. I wouldn't definately count out the first one though I've had a couple with combs like that turn out to be pullets.

I have what I think is a Delaware (yay!), from my mix from McMurray. The 28 chicks are 3 weeks old now. The only thing is...her/his feet are gray and pink. Does this mean it may not be a Delaware after all?

A Jersey Giant has yellow legs/feet if you look at the soles. Wow, this is an ancient thread of mine! I think I'll lock it since I don't even have this particular batch of birds any longer.
