Delaware Pullets?

I noticed one of the pullets has some almost solid black in her hackles. Hatcheries bred Columbian Rocks into the lines when Delawares became almost extinct at one point, messed up the type quite a bit, and that sort of shows she may have been one of those lines, but they do appear to be hatchery Delawares. Good luck with them!

StoneHedge - When did your chickens turn white? We have 5 week old chicks, one of which is supposedly a Delaware, but she's still pretty yellow. I'm wondering if we have a different breed, or if it's just going to take a little while for her to get her white feathers in.

Thanks!
Lisa

Unfortunately we started running a bit short on eggs, so we opted to buy from someone local. They are 4 months old and we just got them. Sorry I can't help more. We are new to chickens only starting our flock a little over a year ago.

No worries at all. We don't really care what breeds we have as long as we get some eggs out of them this fall!

I just haven't found any photos of 5 week old Delawares that look like ours, so it's making me wonder.

Is your Delaware the buff chick in your profile picture?
