My old Bertha decided to go broody and I let her sit on some eggs....just because.

'Cause that's what we do, isn't it? We grow chickens!

I am not sure I will end up with a breedworthy pullet :( Very few girls in the bunch and I think they all have green legs, might have one that will be ok.

I meant to reply to this... Zanna, I'm not sure how many pullets I have, but I am willing to share with you.

I believe I have a 50/50 bunch but 2 green legs[ 1 cockerel and pullet] , We will keep pullet to test for green legs in the Cock . 1 runt which is the feistiest of the group [ doesn't take anything from anybody no matter size - but friendly- first to allow me to pickup ] one is Whiterock and then we have high wing
REXwho got in the wrong line when handing out wings.

Mine are still huddling in corner of pen at night but are some times sitting on roost during day.
And I finally got a few pictures after I figured out my camera was set wrong - Yep as usual operator error
LOL

They are hard to get still for a group shot unless feeding time and then its butts up only LOL

Looking great Tom, beautifull pullets! Poor Rex :(

I will try to check in more often. Please forgive me. I have not intentionally avoided this thread. Our son died, and I have been preoccupied. I am trying to get myself back in shape and some kind of normal routine.

ANYWAY!..... Chickens!

You all do know that you are the firsts that I have released these birds to. There will certainly be work to do. Walt had told me that I had the barn and now it was time to paint it...... (ie the shape is there, now work on the color).... Darn on the greenish legs! Well, observe and see what happens there..... I do hope you all (or some of you anyway!) will continue on with these. I am not quite sure if I am going to. (Right now I just have no interest in much of anything, and I don't know what I am going to do).

Thank you all, for accepting these birds! I do hope that (with work) they will be SOP type birds.

Awww, Kathy! I'm so, so sorry. We had no idea.

I will pray for you and your family...there is simply no words other than that I can offer. My heart goes out to you and am praying that God will bind up your broken hearts and hold you close during this time in your life. I simply can't imagine what you are going through. Just...I'm sorry.

Oh Kathy, there are no words......... Peace be with you.

Thank you for releasing these wonderfull birds to us and I hope you continue your work with them and I hope all on this thread plan on doing the same. You have done a great thing and I for one really appreciate what it took to get them where they are!

Me too! They are some mack truck birds from where I'm sitting and are pleasing the punch and all out of me with their sturdy, wild, fearless antics. Some of my pullets are as big as the cockerels at 7 wks, so I'm not as concerned with the legs....we shall see what carries on there.
