DODO NO NO.. To pretty a bird for that. I am going to be keeping my line going I Hope, Also my brother is taking two roos of mine and some of my hens to keep going I hope. These are part of Kathys line. Life never ceases to amaze me anymore as to what it dishes out so I can never be sure of it at my age. Maybe next yr. I can have extras to share? who knows anymore. Nice idea with the bucket.

Gave the first etiquette lesson to my chosen cockerel. While I admire that he is defending his flock, he also needs to recognize who carries the feed around here and he needs to know it early on. No exceptions. I was examining some of the hens this evening at about dusk when he bit me~hard...and got his first lesson in picking on someone bigger than him.

Kim - Dust bath spa is just old muck tub that had weathered cracks in bottom-got the duct tape cure- kinda keeps the dust confined and they roost on the top rim - dual purpose LOL
I see your tag has Dexter - Sharon has been trying to convince me to get beef here but been concerned with large animals - Dexters are smaller?

- I got interested in Dels about 6 months ago and took me 6 months to get it all that read.
I have read many pages on Dels , Genetics and Heritage but post very little . But my Daddy always told me " you ain't learning nothin when you got your mouth open"

They range in size from 38 - 42 inches tall. Some even shorter, mine are a little taller. The best thing is that they have always been bred for good temperament, so they are easy to manage. You can email me if you want to discuss more. staroseranch AT jps DOT net

Kathy update - just found out Kathy on way back to Iowa- Granddaughter was found unconscious and taken to hospital.
Is on life support. Believed to be diabetic shock. Kathy can't catch a break .

I noticed one of the cockerels had a dirty rear, so I washed it off and decided to weigh him and take a picture. He's 1 lb 14 oz at 8 wks old.
