Shes not breeding anything this year I think she plans on going back to just having birds for a hobby, you'll have to search out other options.

Oh, sorry to hear that. I do understand though with all she has been through. I often ask myself what the heck I am doing and I am now the proud owner of a 270 egg incubator, as well as two 42'ers. Where is the Smiley that has it's hair standing on end???

You planning to hatch 324 eggs at once? :D

OMG, can I relate. I started out with a few hatchery chickens for eggs, a few meat birds, and a few heritage turkeys because I didn't want to eat eggs and meat from abused birds (ie factory farmed) anymore. Now I have a huge poultry house with 8 pens measuring about 18' X 10' each, plus a long pen at the end twice that size; 2 big grow-out pens, a chicken "condo" for males with 16 4'x4' pens and 8 wire show cages, 7 turkey pens; up to 200 chickens (trying to cut back) and 40 turkeys....went from ordering a pallet load of feed at a time (50 50-lb bags) to ordering 2 pallets at a time since the 50 bags was only lasting a month....good grief, I hand carried 100 bags of feed off the pallets, one at a time, and stacked inside my storage building a week or so ago---I will be 62 next year (or this year for those of you where it is already past midnight LOL), so not getting any younger. Seriously? Is this just a hobby?? More like an obsession, and definitely a job. Lots of jobs, and all the time. Need a whole string of those Smileys with hair standing up!

No, NO and NO!!!! Only using the "big" incubator for setting and the 42'ers are now designated hatchers so I can only possibly hatch 82 at once :)

Wow, bless you!! I imagine most of our beginnings into these ventures were for the same reasons and then yes, the obsession kicks in. Don't know how you manage it all. I will be 46 this year (DH 52) and we feel 80 on some days, especially after a day of shoveling 2,500 lbs of wheat, oats or peas out of our pickup bed and into barrels for yearly storage. What we do for our chickens! I can't imagine where it will go for me when I no longer have to work full-time and can do more chickening......... Honestly, I can't wait. DH can though :)

The hardest thing for me is the heat here in the summer. I loved it when I was younger, but now I hate it. And the heat is more than summer: it goes from May through October now. Those are the months with potential 100+ degree days. We have had caretakers from time to time to help, and allowed us to get out of the heat on vacation, but have not had anyone for over a year now. We just interviewed a promising young man--maybe he will be my New Year's gift

Best I could do for your Hair up smile face
LOL

Gee when I hear ya'lls numbers I feel like a slow mo .
Only have possibly five breeding Del pullets and maybe two EEs to make some delaweeggers.
So if I can save max five days I figure about 25 per hatch a week LOL
