Yes please talk , talk, talk. I have one roo and two hens i have saved from this line and will let them breed. I know I can never match the rest of you but this will be fun to learn and do.

My thoughts exactly. I think I potentially have several breeding options and without single breeding everyone (not enought time or room) would like some ideas on which colour issues are more/less important so I can pair birds with the best chance of fixing the colour issues. Leg colour is a big one for me, I want to see those bright yellow legs in the youngsters, maybe it is not as important as I think it is.

I have asked Walt in the past with my own line about a hen I had who had very dark black markings and had the grey underfluff. He said it was a minor fault and if I liked her in all other ways, use her. (Walt, please correct me if I misunderstood). This hen was also from a fairly well established line, maybe that would make a difference.

Well I agree on what ya'll are seeing . However I am not convinced the type is here yet - potential yes - Mine will be 18 weeks next Wed and I plan on Pics , weight and further
assessment then . I have less numbers to work with and I see maybe some type in the cockerels but only having 5 pullets. I only see maybe one pullet with some potential on type and I think it has columbian markings.then I have Runt , green legs and 2 med size.
Further assessments next week . My plan is healthy meat birds first and color last.

He He ! I may have to drive to lower Delaware and convince someone to help me out with some pullets LOL

Yes this is still the very early stages of developement of this breed it will take hatching in great numbers you will have to choose the one two or three out these small groups to move forward with, it is going to be some time before you will get that "hey they all look like peas in a pod" type still yet.Now is the time to use the best typical ones including color wise in the consideration of breeding the more a fault is instilled in the breeding the harder it will be to weed out later on down the row.

One of the pullets I had saved had the green tint to the legs earlier but does not now, so I'm not sure if everyone has had that same result or if I'm imagining things. Is that even possible?

Yes, I have seen it happen. Walt said not to cull for that because they do change. I did cull the really dark looking green though. The pale yellow - I did not cull, even if it had a slight tinge. I can not tell now.
I got some pictures very early this morning. Not good photos - still dew on the ground.

Uh...erm...Kathy? That one really big gal is just not going to make SOP...just thought I'd mention that. Just at a glance I'm thinking her color, size and..well...everything is just OFF.

Beautiful birds, as always!!!! Love seeing your stock. I'm glad I'm not seeing things, then, because I can barely tell their legs apart now...all good and orange.
