Delawares from kathyinmo

Pics
Pretty fellows at this distance. Are they as pretty close up or are you seeing pretty then too. I love the Dels , some are slow to mature for me but other than that they sure are sweet. I have one of Kathys males and two of the hens. My brother has some of them as well. So far I really like them. I like the GNH too. My rooster in that pen jumped wrong or something and had to be put down. I hated that. I do have a backup white orp. He is so pretty. I am going to keep him for the time being. I am not a breeder, just an enjoyer.

PS I agree kathy that is a really pretty hen. She could be lain right over the picture of the Del thats used to judge them.

Kathy, do you know what might cause the buff barring and if it's a cull worthy offense if it will go away if paired with the right cock?

First Dink Egg from the Blue line 28.5 weeks

- they slow but moving on and have noticed some body size growth in last two weeks.

compared to the Redline Del eggs at 31.5 weeks it looks like a Robins egg LOL

Well, that's good news. Still waiting here. Zanna, yours are older ... any eggs yet?

I did see one of the cockerels crow for the first time. They are chasing each other around. The pullets are now cooped next to them, with the run fence separating the sexes. The males are doing the dance for the pullets, who seem unimpressed.

Signs of maturity.

My roo is crowing too has been for a while. I saw a hen inspecting a nest today. Maybe it will be soon with the eggs.
Mine were shipped from Kathy on April 25th.

The 3 cockerals I still have are starting to hassle the girls (my BCM, not the Dels) but I have not heard one crow yet. No eggs from the girls (April 4th or so hatch date), Tom I am jealous!!! Was hoping to set up the breeding pen mid. Nov. but I want the girls to be laying a minimum of 3 mos. first and the eggs at least medium in size so they get to stay on free-range for now. Maybe Spring or early Summer. Patience............

Here are a few pics from 10/22. The boys still look so goofy and immature, the pic. is of my nicest one although a bad pic, he is crouching down.

That fourth pullet is darn nigh perfect!!! How beautiful they all are! I got mine 4/25 and haven't seen a notion of laying from them either, nor any sex interest from the rooster, so I don't know that they are even close. I'm used to hatchery birds, so going past the 6 mo. mark is a rarity for me for POL...I'm going to have to adjust to heritage stock differences, I'm thinking.

Yes a lot of improvement in last 3 weeks both male and female -
Zanna I think those pullets look good - 4&5 look like twins and one of mine looks just like it.
As for the boys they are completely out of sight of the females , I am getting lots of crowing from about three . The others try but the
#1,2&3 dont like the others to crow LOL - Top dog rights I guess.
All the green leg color is gone even though some are a lighter orange yellow.

No Dink eggs today

Will try to do some Pics soon

Bee - Mine are same ship date as yours - I got the leftovers LOL - Not complaining , I'm happy !
You better start checking the woods

Walt's experience with Kathy's NH was that the first generation was slow maturing, yet the second generation was much faster and better overall. I'm hoping that the same may hold true with these Dels.
