Delayed egg laying

I have two blue english orpington hens that are about 26 weeks old but still no sign of any eggs .why are they taking so long? is this just a characteristic of the breed?

I've had some that didn't lay until they were ten months. Twenty six weeks isn't really that bad. Remember, that is the AVERAGE of when the breed will start laying. Some will lay early and others will lay late. Just be patient.
