Delayed Eggs

I have 6 now. 2 silkies and an olive egger. I have almost 30 eggs left and a few are pipped. I have a feeling this is going to go a couple more days maybe with all the different genetics and breeds. Some of them did not get in the incubator until about 12 hours from the rest...although 1 from that group hatched already I bet they start pipping today.

dang it lost one. A red silkie got knocked upside down darn I really wanted the red one. I think it suffocated. I have 10 chicks now.

Aww sorry you lost one. That always sucks. And I hate when they get turned upside down! They say it doesn't hurt, but sometimes it does. Multiple breeds at the same time can be a challenge.

Good luck with the rest!

well came home to a splay leg chick and one hatching upsidedown. It might be stuck. Will it hatch?

Om and there was a spraddle legged too. It is braced and the other one has a little leg goes to the side. Some of these late hatchers are having issues :(

Well the rest of thr eggs shrink wrapped and died after too many days. I have 2 with leg issues and 2 that were getting wrapped and I assisted 1 chick not sure if it will be OK and one more I am gradually helping but I do not think these 2 will make i. I do think my incubator is calibrated too low. I got 15 out of 34 that went into lockdown. Kinda sad :(

Definitely sounds like you need to bump the temperature up a bit. So sorry you lost so many, but it's a learning process. And you still got several!
Hope you will post some pics if you get a chance.

Oh, and as far as shrinkwrapping, once they die, the membrane starts to recede, so they may not have died because of it. It was likely a result of them dying.

Well today is lockdown day at 7pm tonight. Not very happy with this hatch, down to 10 eggs out of the 14 lavender orpington eggs I started with. The 4 I got rid of showed no sign of development at all, guessing they were not fertile eggs. My main concern is that 3 or 4 of eggs look less developed than the others meaning the chick has not grown to fill the egg like the others. After reading back through recent posts it seems I am not the only one having this issue this time. I kept a close eye on my humidity and temperature, 30-40% and 99.5-100, no big swings in either during the whole process. Any ideas or input would be appreciated. Either way hatcher has been set up for 2 days now so I am ready for lockdown tonight holding a steady 65% humidity and 99.5. Maybe they will all hatch and I am just paranoid that I have done something wrong.
