I'm not sure about deleting threads (you can message one of the moderators like Sumi and ask about it), but when you get the next message on that thread you can unsubscribe from it by clicking on the "unsubscribe from this thread" box at the bottom of your email message.

You can't delete threads you've made, I don't think, only moderators can (although if you have one of the special memberships you can delete your own posts, which is pretty cool ) - hit "report" (bottom left corner of the post) and explain why you want the thread deleted, and that should attract a moderator's attention. Or else you can just send one of the mods a PM, and Michael suggested.

You can also ask moderators to lock down a thread if it is one you started and it is pointless at some point to continue like an illness or predator problem, but if you do ask for it to be locked keep in mind to also post the outcome of the illness or predator proofing, because many times people searching later may need to know an answer to the same question.
