Delivery Confirmation....Rant.

I hate USPS.

USPS. Almost all my favorite chickens have hatched from eggs delivered by the USPS. And I can share my eggs with others due to the USPS. Couldn't ship them otherwise!

They are not perfect. And for most situations a few days extra due to a lost package is no big deal. But every now and then, like with eggs & chicks, it IS a big deal.
And sometimes, I really do think there are some staff that think boxes marked 'fragile' mean kick me, and boxes marked 'hatching eggs' mean kick me really hard.

But overall, I really do appreciate the United States Postal Service.

Now, according to my postmaster, this is not correct. I asked her if DC and tracking were two different things and she told me they were not. She said they do not offer "tracking" on priority packages. When I asked her why the website said that you could "track" she said she did not know why it was worded that way, as all you can do is "confirm shipment, and delivery."

Hi! This is from a box shipped Sat, 4/10. Box was clearly marked "eggs for hatching enclosed".

If your package was taken by truck to Atlanta which is normal for the first sort facility, then clearly it did not make it to the airport until April 12th a Monday. It appears your hub held the package until Monday. The problem is not at the post office but at the airport with Fedex employees. Greensboro, NC hub is supposed to now hold these packages until Monday but it usually does not happen. I have talked directly to both the Olivia and the Greensboro Post Master on this issue. They were the ones who informed me that Fedex and UPS was being used as sub contractors, and that the new administration had cut severely funds causing lay offs.

All VERY good things to know! You can use a larger box with better packaging and ship it for less than a smaller flat rate box. Delivery Confirmation is iffy sometimes, but I print the shipping label online and DC is free and well as a little less in cost.

Yote, I sure hope something can be worked out so you can get some fresh eggs.

If you plan to ship more than a few packages, an inexpensive scale is well worth it. I bought mine for $25.00 on ebay eight years ago and it still works just great ~!
