Arrrgghhh! Bankers are the new lawyers, yes?. One of which I would get if I wasn't fearful that their fees would cost more than the money we lost. Four hundred went for the survey, which we hope will still be useful -- although I have heard another lender might want a new one, even though this one was just done. So only about 3 hundred bucks could be got back at most. Still, you're right, it irks me that they took my money for squat. But they pushed out an amazing amount of paperwork -- loads of it, in duplicate versions for me and my husband, who received identical versions of the same documents. I hate to thin how many trees die for this stuff.
Someone suggested small claims court -- which might be instructive if not gainful. I imagine spending an entire day watching the dregs of the earth standing in front of the local version of Judge Judy ;>).
