Denied Refi by "Profits Not Chickens" Bank!

I would request a list from them explaining which pets and how many of each disqualify their customers from recieving loans. I know you have moved on but its a matter of principle now. I would ask them so many stupid questions they would never forget me. Question: If I have three dogs, Two cats, and a hampster and if one of the cats die could I replace the cat with a rabbitt and still qualify for a loan from your bank?

I would be willing to bet Fanny Mae wouldn't care about your chickens. It's just that the refi guy THOUGHT they would. Not the same thing. I would be curious to know how a dozen chickens qualifies as "an agricultural enterprise" even though you did declare them on your taxes. If a person can make a living on a dozen chickens, I am obviously doing something wrong.

dumb people in positions of power is sometimes frustrating.

My deceased Mom used PNC, but I did a lot of her financial stuff, boy they were a pain in the toukas to deal with on every level.

Arrrgghhh! Bankers are the new lawyers, yes?. One of which I would get if I wasn't fearful that their fees would cost more than the money we lost. Four hundred went for the survey, which we hope will still be useful -- although I have heard another lender might want a new one, even though this one was just done. So only about 3 hundred bucks could be got back at most. Still, you're right, it irks me that they took my money for squat. But they pushed out an amazing amount of paperwork -- loads of it, in duplicate versions for me and my husband, who received identical versions of the same documents. I hate to thin how many trees die for this stuff.

Someone suggested small claims court -- which might be instructive if not gainful. I imagine spending an entire day watching the dregs of the earth standing in front of the local version of Judge Judy ;>).

Oh, I love this idea! I wonder if they would bother to respond, now that my husband has told them to go pound sand. Worth a try, though!

Quote: HAHAHA! Indeed-- I replied and told them the same thing, I did figure I could manage to make a cvry small profit once every 5 or 7 years, whichever it is that qualifies as a business, but small profit would equall $25. or so. I get $3 to $5. a dozen for eggs, so once my $400. electric fence is paid off, I might be able to make about that much. Not exactly in rolling in the dough. "Agricultural enterprise"! Good lord. We are surrounded by people with considerable acreage who have some very expensive-looking horseflesh -- one has a complete cross-country course kept in perfect condition that I have never seen in use. I can't imagine some of these folks didn't refinnance at some point. Maybe there is a special bank just for those of us who keep farm animals?

I would send them a copy of the ordinance which states you can have chickens on YOUR property and ask them what legal right they have to supersede it. I don't see how a lending company can tell you what pets you can and can't have.

We just refinanced our home a few weeks ago. I switched to GEICO insurance for our home at that time. Yesterday I just received a cancellation due to "There are nine chickens on the premise in which are used for consumption" along with 2 minor repairs. What on earth do chickens have to do with this? Yes, we eat the eggs from our chickens but we don't eat our chickens. We are allowed to have up to 10 chickens in the town I live in as well. I don't understand this! I will be switching my homeowners insurance back to MetLife and taking my auto insurance away from GEICO as well.

This is why I am putting a stockade fence around my property within the next year. Nobody needs to be snooping around my yard without me present.
