Depressed flock?

We took our 15 chicks to a friend's farm today to help with sexing. We can't keep roosters here, so I thought it would be a good time to "make the cut". They were born on May 11th which makes them 7 weeks old today. We came home with 8.

It was a 2.5 hour round trip and I'm sure they were tired and a bit stressed from the traveling.

But they are VERY subdued in their pen and run......are they depressed or just tired from their busy day????

Or.....is it that the rabble rousing roosters are gone????

Any thoughts???

My thoughts... they do establish a "pecking order" & this has been disrupted. Give them a day & they'll probably perk up & start re-establishing the pecking order!

They were tired and stressed. Chickens hate change. I'm betting that they are fine today.
