A few months ago, one of my white leghorn chickens died due to a fox attack. Ever since then her sister, Remie, who is also a white leghorn has never been the same. She has stopped laying, she has lost A lot of feathers around her neck and head area, aswell as her stomach. I have noticed that she has lost a bit of weight too, and hasn't been eating much. She won't come out of the coop for long and if she does, she ends up hiding somewhere looking all puffed up. There is a bit of poo on her bum feathers as well. Previously I said that she has stopped laying, well everyday she will go into the nest box and sit there for a few hours, but won't actually lay anything. I have been very worried about her, I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated :)

Sorry for your loss. I don't have much knowledge or experience in this subject, so I'll tag @azygous becuase they've helped me out a lot and they know their stuff. Anyway, just check her over and make sure she isn't eggbound, because that might be a possibility. Feel her rump area for an egg.
Does she have other companions?

Until the part about her sitting in a nest for periods without laying, all the rest of her symptoms sound like molt.

Did this all start right after the fox attack or more recently?

On the off chance she's having a stuck egg issue, and this can accompany onset of molt, give her a calcium citrate tablet now and each day for the next several days. If there is a soft egg being stubborn, this will help her push it out. This is what you need to buy. Give the tablet whole, directly into her beak.

Thanks for your help. I was starting to think the same, that it might just be a molt. Yes this all started after her sister died. I will definitely be getting them tablets and hopefully they help. Thanks again

Hi I went to my local pharmacy today to ask if they had it but they do not sell it. Do you know anything that I could give her in the meantime whilst I try to find somewhere that does sell calcium citrate ? :)
