Depression? Is it coming?

Thats not exactly true in all cases. My behemoth has done many things your Hyundai cannot do and made me lots...

Some valid points there. Many of the folks I know that have the big trucks are finding old beater cars for $1000 and driving those and parking the truck. Only using the truck when they have to haul something. If you can find a $1000 car that gets 25mpg it's worth getting, you'll get your fuel costs back in a couple of months.

BINGO. Although, I think the housing deal does play a part in this.
What I HATE is the government promising all of these "giveaways" when they can't afford to do it in the first place. I could go on and on and on about how certain people in the goverment want to give away this, give away that. But the sad thing is that the people, the voters, WANT the government to give them stuff without having to pay for it. It's just absurd.
Think your stimulus money was free? You're wrong. We're paying for it whether you know it or not. They'll be taking that money out of healthcare, schools, road improvements etc.

well, i agree to a degree, we can not help the actions of others, i have a old car that gets 25 mpg but driving to work daily a good distance away eats away at gas money fast,
i work daily my wife works daily and drives a toyota car-which is paid for as all my cars, we pay over 480.00 for health insurance a month and over 400.00 a month in gas now. then add food, clothing and schools for one child, everything is going up not just gas. food, gas, commodities something is wrong.. we have a business and we have things going up monthy and shipping and such ehck most the of the wholesalers wont even print prices in the order books any more and are price on reqeust.. this has never happened in the past in our bussiness of over 20 years.. this happened in the last few years not for 10 or 20 years as inflation normally works. i blame the insurance on greed of hmo's and plans, and folks from mexico and other countries being burden and not paying their way. and hatching kid after kid here and sending money to familes in other countries,, come on-- not to mention all the sorry folks in this country draining social services and the health care systems.

also our government leaders/ no matter what party-dem or republician- they both stink and tell you what you want to hear and then do nothing--and could care less as they make a lot more money than most of us and have free car service, gas, and a great retirement plan and security detail, and such, if i had that i geuss i would not have to worry either.. plus they are probally invested in the oil markets, so it is a win/win for them...

I thought it was simple, just tax the rich...which now means anyone who through hard work and God's Grace makes more than 35k a year.

I find it comforting to know we're "rich".

"It will effect us all", you say?????? How so??? Really, not everyone in the depression was suffering. Sure, if you overextended yourself (spending more than you make and living way beyond your means), you are in trouble. But if you are always living conservatively, debt free, within your means...you have nothing to worry about. Throw in a few chickens and you will be able to help your neighbor who was foolish in good times.

It's about time people thought twice before getting in their big SUV's and driving to the mall to pick up things they don't need. It's about time we educate our children to get jobs at 15 years of age to help out the family and contribute instead of drain their parent/s. Hard times coming??? I say bring it on...that's exactly what this country needs to get back on track. All these big hollywood stars talk about going green, but I don't see composting bins, chickens in the yard and heck, they wouldn't even know how to grow a tomato. Do people even know how to cook a homemade, nutritious meal these days. Try shopping around the perimeter of the supermarket and just get the basics.....skip all the aisles of junk and marketing ploys. Oh gosh, I could go on and on.....but yes, we need to wake up and get back on the right track!
