As far as things go, I don't think presidents can so influence policy to make much of a dent in the economy to begin with. Also, the indicators,as mentioned here, previously and elsewhere, are historical in nature. Policy changes, take a long period of time, to yield results. Market factors, such as supply, demand, availability, shipping costs, etc. are more of an immediate change rather than any politicians' input.
Sniping the Democrats presidential candidate, Osama bin La...er...uhh...Barack Obama isn't the real solution either. I am an avowed Conservative, so much so, that I'm fighting that guy for the last seat on the far right-upper deck! I just happen to be a registered Republican and will vote for that Party's presidential nominee, although I voted for Ron Paul in the primary. I'm all for a limited federal three level government that's promulgated as a democratic republic of united but separate states. I do not wish for a socialist or a communist form of government nor do I ever wish to become a "loyal subject." Also, the idea of erasing the borders in North America or becoming a citizen of a one-world government are all crappo dogmas better suited for every other failed form of government, in the past, now or in the future. If you think otherwise, then you probably buy into the myth of man-made "global" warming! As if a cow fart or an elephant turd could affect whether the sun broils the contents of your chrome dome? Give me a break! How utterly absurd!!!
I own a 9 y.o. 1 ton pickup with an 8.0L V-10 that gets 15mpg. I'm 6'8" and weigh 320+ ...and I won't get stuffed in a tiny Jpn car! Hybrids you can forget about also..way too small! And before I hear some snide remark about losing weight, shove this down YOUR pie hole! I've lost 115 lbs in the past 2 years. I have a cell phone, have dsl internet, have satellite dish tv, and a 2400 sqft farm house on 42 acres. What I don't have is: a mortgage...house is paid for and the land and the outbuildings; a car payment...truck is paid for, spend about$1300/year to maintain; huge grocery bills...we have a 1.25 acre market garden, dairy goats, chickens and other poultry, sheep for meat.
This country is doing just fine the way it is just right now...for right now. What happened eighty years ago is ancient history. how does the old saying go? Be careful for what you ask for, you may get it? I must be the crazy one but I find pure joy when I grab a hold of the greens and out pops a sweet juicy bright orange carrot! What better taste than a sun-warmed tomato with a dash of salt? Or biting into that just picked peach and the juice running down your chin after taking that big bite! Enjoy life for what it truly is. If you find joy in digging ditches; grab a shovel! I've been shot twice, blown up twice, was aboard aircraft that crashed twice, fell from a height of 42 feet once and was electrocuted once (all this was during my "career" in the military.) Life is what you make, my friends. Why dwell on the negative things in life? Look forward to a new day and what you, personally, can accomplish today!
