Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Yep-- I tried with some EE chicks. Derp got mad, I think she would have killed them! We all love Derp dearly, but I think she'd be a terrible mother to real babies...

She also violently discards any eggs that end up in her nest box! The only reason she hasn't broken any of the other hen's eggs is because the shells are nice and thick.

A terrible mother to real babies

And a polite way of saying destroy: "Violently discards"

Nambroth, you are so funny. :lau

I have 8 Salmon Favs.....2 are 10 wks old and 6 are 8 wks old. I think I am about to lose an 8 wk old pullet to the heat. She has been in chicken ICU for 2 days now and it's not looking good.

By any chance, does anyone have a list of the pages that have Nambroth's Durp updates (or durp-dates) on them?

My son, who loves Derp, has several pages noted. The beginning stories are in the first several pages, so no individual listings.

Here you go, Fud Lady! :D

I tried to include all relevant posts. I don't think I missed any, but I'm sure my fellow Derpaholics will chime in if I did. ;) (Also, feel free to change any of the titles I gave to the posts; they're just what popped into my head as I was reading along.)

As a side note, I was alarmed to note that one of my speckled Sussex chicks, Iddy Biddy, appears to have the Derp in her--I spotted the tiniest twist to her beak while I was sitting with the babies the other day! Not as extreme as Derp's beak-twistiness, but certainly there! I think Biddy's a little obsessed with twistiness, though--her toes have been curling further and further since day one!

She's also a lot smaller than the other chicks--here she is (to the right) beside Pip, the other Speckled Sussex (with Partridge Rock butts in the background).

I am trying to get a pic of her face up close, but darn if she isn't the most spastic little chick on the planet!

Just wondering, Fud Lady, did Derp start with as twisty of a face as she has, or did it come on gradually? Biddy doesn't act Derpy, but I wonder if it'll come with age..? She's 5 weeks old now. She started out weak like Derp did and ended her first day laying under the brooder lamp gasping for breath. She made a miraculous recovery, but has been about a week or two behind in growth since. (Oh, and she's a Meyer Hatchery chick like Derp! Coincidence?)

(And I apologize for the thread-hacking. You may now continue with your regularly scheduled Derp.)

Hi Pipzip!

Derp's twisted skull came on gradually. We didn't know it was happening until she was at least 5 weeks old, when I looked at her head on and studied photos of her I was thinking, "Gosh is her... is her skull crooked? No, it's just an illusion from the cheek poofs." ... but sure enough it WAS crooked! It's not major, but you can tell if you look at her head-on.

Thank you for the list! It's awesome, I'll use it for now since this thread is sooo long!
