Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

He's very mellow and friendly. He wasn't "babied" a lot as a chick (like I do with my chicks, eep) so he isn't so sure about being pet, but he doesn't protest when I pick him up, and is very calm around us. He chats with me quite a bit and "shows me treats" whenever I approach, which is sweet of him.. BUT... I will keep an eye on the behavior, because I don't want him to treat me like a hen-- I'm his boss!

I would have named him Pants, but I couldn't call him that after my last roo (named Panic Pants).

Mr. Fluffypants (also a cochin) does that for me too, he also attacks Little Man (silkie) when Little man goes after me. They're about 9 months old and I haven't had a problem with Mr. Fluffybutt yet. Little Man is a pain in the tush sometimes, but it's my fault for wearing skirts when it's windy.

I have a frizzled cochin roo named Fancypants. Seems like great minds think alike

I have not babied any of my roosters. I have yet to have a mean one too. The girls on the other hand, I will always baby them. I think, when you baby a roo, you are asking for trouble. So many people say how their rooster just suddenly got mean one day, how it was always such a sweet rooster, ride around on the shoulder, sit in the lap... then bam! flogging and attacking... I take that back... Roger, he was a bit more babied... But he was my boy... a silkie, and I took a lot of bites from him. He'd bite me, then let me pick him up. Haha. I guess that was his way of reminding me that he was a rooster. LOL My two faverolle boys I have now, I only mess with them when I need to look at them for something. I don't touch them, or mess with them, I don't chase them to catch them. I do anything I need from off the roost. Thats it.

Interesting! Gullincambe (my first roo, since rehomed for hurting the girls) wasn't babied either-- he wouldn't let us. He was very standoffish from day one.

I am home again! Please give me a few days to catch up with my home business then I will post Derp photos for you all!
