Taking a quick lunch break.
Here are some chicken videos for you!!
Mr. Baron Rufflerump (Bubbles) in the nest box. When he wants a girl to be encouraged to go in and lay, he will turn in circles and chirp excitedly. This time he was just sitting there like a lump!
Here's Bubbles, up and about in the yard! WARNING: Crowing!!
You can see he is still stiff and his gait is not correct. Still, he is UP and not paralyzed (which he was this spring!). He is able to do all the things a rooster should, just a bit more slowly.
(sorry for the thump halfway through, Coho flew onto my arm and thumped the camera with her wings!)
Here's a short video of the girls (plus the legs of One Rooster) having a dust bath in my garden bed.
Okay, this might look mean, but all of you know that Kua genuinely tries to eat fingers. A while ago we invented the Finger Game, where I twirl my fingers and she tries to grab them. She's not hungry! Just silly. She can leave at any time. Sometimes I let her get a finger, hoping she will realize it's not food. Nope. She never stops trying!!
Then Chickadee flies onto my arm for a cuddle.
Finally, here is Derperella singing her Egg Song. It usually goes on for about 15 minutes. It evolves as it goes... with crescendos, and overtures, and refrains. It is truly an ENTIRE SONG. The other chickens never seem to know what to do about it.
(That's Coho up on the perch. Derp is on the ground, singing, and Bubbles is sort of concerned)
