Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Wow, what an a great painting, congratulations. It must feel amazing to dream so long and work so hard and see it come to fruition.

The skill and detail in the painting is tremendous. But I think you also have a special eye when you depict birds. All that time "carrying chickens around" contributes to that. You reflect their individuality in your paintings.

I hope you really enjoy touring with the other top artists in the competition and seeing beautiful parts of the country, too.

Do we just ask for these at the post office?

Yes, most of the larger post offices will have them. Walmart will have them at the sporting goods counter (if they have a sporting goods counter). As will any place that sells hunting licenses. You can get them online from the USPS.com website too. You can buy one now and get a beautiful painting of Canvasback ducks by Adam Grimm, and I support that very much because it helps wetlands. My art will be on the stamp next year, 2015, and will be released around the end of June. I will give a date once I know it.

Ok thank you! :)

Nambroth- sincere congratulations on your painting being chosen. I have always looked at them and felt so impressed by their detailed beauty and what they represent.

My father has been an avid hunter all his life, and even though he rarely hunted waterfowl he faithfully bought a duck stamp every year.

It would stay pressed in his wallet until he would replace it with the new one and give me the old for my stamp collection.

I am a biologist today because he conveyed his enthusiasm and awe of nature and the responsibility for participating in habitat management.

I look forward to buying "yours" next season.

Congratulations, Nambroth! How exciting!

You CAN order custom stamps with your own photo on them and they are legal - there is an upcharge to create them. I used to toy with the idea of doing so but, knew I would have a fit if people just threw them away with the envelope.
