Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Pics
I got a few photos of Derp this week. Her bald spot is all pin feathers so it looks extra weird!

I will get them together as I get a chance, I'm waist deep in an important painting that has a deadline sooooon!

I will work on a book, too, as long as you don't mind being patient for it. I've done it before, it's just time consuming and time is one thing I don't have much of. :)

Printing a full color small children's book these days may be a lot less than the cost to print a fine art book. I was curious so I did a little web search. Here is a link of the first publisher I came across: http://diggypod.com/isbn-numbers.html Of course, I have no idea about the quality...

BTW I enjoyed the video of Gullin. I wish my roosters liked getting a wattle massage as much as your's does (or as much as I like massaging their wattles).

I tried the wattle massage on my mama hen. She calmed right down with it! I was surprised. I also tried it on Mr. Fluffers, my Sam Fav Roo. He likes to try and spend the night in the garage. SO, when I was taking him back to the coop, I was massaging his, and he seemed to like it too!

Hi Derp fans... Today I am posting something I wish I never had to post. Don't worry-- Derp and the other chickens are okay! I hope someone can help...
I am extremely sad, but I think I need to re-home Gullincambe, the rooster. I'm afraid he's really starting to hurt my hens by over-breeding them... he is otherwise so gentle and wonderful, both with me and the girls. He actually saved them from a hawk yesterday (I'll share that story shortly) and is otherwise such a good boy... I just think he needs more girls than I can have. I can't afford to built another predator proof coop and run right now, and my current coop really will only house 7-8 hens comfortably. I was really hoping he'd get better about this since he is young, but it hasn't gotten any better in the last three months.

If anyone can help me, please let me know. He's beautiful and otherwise a very good rooster!

I wrote an information page up for him here: http://featherdust.critter.net/gullin.html
I cried the whole time I was making it! Mr. Gullin, my buddy. I feel like I failed you. :( We really do love him and he has so much personality. I feel terrible about this, and yet I feel terrible that my girls are suffering too. I have never re-homed an animal before so this is very hard.

Gullincambe is such a gorgeous roo! ... Wow is 7 girls are not enough for him I can't imagine mine with only 2 girls... I'm new in this...but cant you just make him a "bachelor pen" to put him from time to time so the girls get some rest?
